When we started palying CRICKET

Now its cricket fever everywhere, cricket is not jsut a game in INDIA , its a religion here. This blog is just to remember the euphoric days when i started palying cricket(though i am not a gud cricket player from my childhood :--))).
If i remember we started palying cricket when i was in first standard. In those we used prepare a ball to play cricket, that was very easy coz we used to throw lot of sheets(pages) of book irrespective of its contents. Teachers use to scold for tearing the papers from notebooks but we never stopped tearing them, especially last pages were the victims of this noble deed!! . Collect some trash papers and crush it up in hands and cover the whole mass of paper crushed with a cover you find around and then knot it with a rubber band, just as simple as that. The hard bing of a notebook is our bat for the ball we preapared. After the ball and bat is ready we used to search for brick piece or a charcoal to draw wickets on the nearby wall. Batsmen side only we had wickets and on the bowlers side we used to keep a big stone or a brick.
Cricket doesnot needs too much of money to start as any other games which were came to india from exotic places.

(To be continued.....)

Maddur Vade

Some people enjoys travelling and some wont. My wandering mind allways love travelling. In India for every few kilometers the accent of the language, culture and even slangs also changes. During travelling we encounter various types of persons, strange places blah, blah. From last 6 months I am travelling from bangalore-mysore on weekends. Few days back while coming from bangalore in the dawn of monday i didnt got sleep. So i kept on looking out. As the bus entered Ramanagaram i saw welcome arch at the entrance of Ramanagaram on which the welcome note was " Welcome to silk city". Then came the Channapatna's turn , it has a welcome arch "Welcome to the land of toys".
I thought of the nicknames of the places, if you think about the route from Bangalore-Mysore you will find that each of the place we traverse from blore to mysore has nicknames. I thought of all the major towns/cities we traverse through this route and i came up with list of nicknames in a while.
  Bangalore         -    Silicon City
  Ramanagaram   -     Silk City
 Channapatna      -   Land of toys
  Maddur            -   ????
  Mandya           -    Sugar City
  Srirngapatna    -   Historical Town
  Mysore           -   Heritage City

No nicknames popped up from my mind when i thought about Maddur. Every nicknames are derived by the uniqueness of the place, so i thought of calling it as "Vada City" (as the place is famous for the special kind of vada prepared here). This vadas have a unique fragrance, taste and have a huge market.
When i discussed the same topic with my other colleagues they also agreed upon the same nickname Maddur- Vada City. The main why am calling Maddur as city is due to the presence of CCD there, LOL. Huge crowd comes to CCD,Maddur all the way from Bangalore,Mysore to spend some quality time in CCD. Long ride and a cup of coffee- a beautiful combination.

Maddur- The Vada City.
