Maverick of Karnataka politics

Today morning S.Bangarappa , ex-chief minister of karnataka passed away due to prolonged illness. This obituary is to remember a colourfull statesman of our times.
Being born to middle class family of a backward class he did impossible things possible by becoming a chief minister of a state which is dominated by upper castes politically. An adage in kannada goes like this ' adu muttada sopilla' ( means there is no plant which has not been tasted by goat) , we can modify this adage to 'bangarappa serada pakshavilla' ( there is party which bangarappa didnt joined). Eventhough he changed parties and emblems, people of karnatak never let him down except two times, that becuase of his wrong calculations and overconfidence. One time he lost to Ayanur Manjunath (over confidence) and one more time to Raghavendra { yediyurappa's son} ( this time due to money and wrong calculations).
He practiced as a lawyer in his salad days and then joined samajawadi party headed by socialist Shantaveri Gopalagowda along with Kagod Thimmappa who became his arch rival in his future political career.Mr.Bangarappa had interest in classical music , not only listening to music he was a singer. He was a good badminton player who use to beat teenager in the game in his 70's also.
People use to vote a person if he is a follwer of Bangarappa in almost 40 constiuencies in Karnataka. Many peoples became MPs and MLAs because of his support. When Ramakrishna Hegde was CM of karnataka, he teased Bangarappa due to some small issue. After that Ramakrishna Hegde contested for Loksabha election from Bagalkot , Bangarappa gave B-Form a mundane congress worker and campaigned for him. Election result : Ex CM Ramakrishna Hegde lost for a congress worker.Even Ex CM BSY and K.S.Eshwarappa also got defeated in 1999 general elections against supporters of Bangarappa.
Bagarappa was a incurable optimist. His adventure of forming new regional parties and winning some constituencies were widley accoladed.
Bangarappa lost his CM post due to commenting against high command. He dared high command. Only two CMs till date have not let Karnataka down in Kauvery water issue. One is Mr.Devraj Urs and another one is none other than Bangarappa. Bangarappa passed an ordinance not to leave kaveri water, no other CMs dared to do this due to political pressures.
Even Bangarappa was not free from scandals and controversies, these made him more colourfull and charismatic. Before last month only Bangarappa got clean chit from Classic Computer Scandal which had happened during his tenure as CM. This scandal was devised by some of his opponents to tarnish his image but it never happened.
When Bangarappa contested for Shimoga Loksabha constituency on a Samajawadi party ticket after leaving BJP, whole state goverment came to Shimoge to campaign against him. Whole vidhana soudha was at Shimoga, peoples of Shimoga thought why all these people are trying to defeat him and voted for Mr.Bangarappa only. He won in a huge margin and entered parliament again.
He concern for poor , backward classes made him the champion of backward classes. He had left this earth only physically , he will remembered in the future for his charmistic character.
RIP Bangarappa.

Tejaswi.... Tejaswi.......

I cultivated the habit of reading literature after addicting to Hi Bangalore kannada weekly. I came to know about many books, authors through Hi Bangalore only. Started reading the books of  ravi belegere , then came Khuswanth singh, robin sharma, etc etc.. Till april 2007 I had just heard about Teajswi. On April 5 , 2007 Tejaswi died of heartattack. The scoop became cover story in Hi Bangalore with mast head " O Carvalho " , the papaer was filled with articles and memiors about Tejaswi written by others . I was impressed by the articles present in the paper. The next morning I purchased Carvalho of Tejaswi, finished the novel in one sitting . After reading Cravalho, I became an ardent fan of Tejaswi .
Started reading Tejaswi's novels, short stories, as of now I have read allmost all his writings. All of the Tejaswi's story had a malnad village backdrop, while readind his writings I have felt that I am at my native.
Tejaswi became morte and more closer to my heart and soul. Even today Carvalho and his other novels reach No.1 position in the bestseller list and stay over there for several weeks.
The characters like Mandanna, Biriyani Kariyappa, Carvalho, Kivi, Pyara have became immortals. Tejaswi was very clear with his thoughts and had his own vision about agriculture, ploitics and farmers. Tejaswi was the first person in India , who raised the topic of open market for coffee. He was the reason behind coffee getting open market.
After his masters degree in maharaja college at mysore, Tejaswi worked as lecturer for a while and then he went to do farming in Mudigere. Bought a land and made coffee plantation. I wonder how tejaswi created marvels by sitting in the sleepy town mudigere. Tejaswi other interests were painting, playing sitar, photography , fishing...... and many more. He was a disciplined man and he used to indullge 100 % in what he do. Because of that discipline onluy he excelled in what he did. He used to repair his car, scooter as good as a experienced mechanic. In his last years Tejaswi was fond of computer and he was on his way to develop kannada software. He had told many people that " we need to develop our own kannada software language, then only our language will survive ". He created Mayaloka novel using computer only.
Tejaswi became a living legend in and around mudigere by his unique activities. He was influenced by Rammanohar lohia's ideology and his works reflected the same. He was with Lankesh in his Pragathi Ranga and also he was active Farmer's movement (Raitha Chaluvali) with Prof.M.D.N.
Many of his short storie had became films in kannada. His novels Carvalho, Chidambara rahasya became teleserials. Now Chandana channel is retelecasting the Chidambara rahasya again, many are started watching ( Source : Facebook Updates).
Tejaswi was a mentor to an entire generation. He is the person who got celebtiry level being a writer. He is role model for many people and he created a awareness about the environment. He lived his life to its fullest from and he didnt cared about what other's feel about him.
His fans activities in Facebook and other social networking sites shows is influence on is readers. Mudigere's vismaya prathistana which was founded by the followers of Tejaswi to realise his dreams is very active which conducts trekkings, enviromental awareness to school students by organising exhibitions about flora and fuana ( http://tejaswivismaya.com/ ).
His depature had created  a vaccum in kannada literature which is not filled and will not be filled. He remains evergreen and alive in his reader's heart forever.
Mrs.Rajeshwari Tejaswi had written some article in Kendasampige website, read those articles to get more information about Tejaswi. http://kendasampige.com/writer_profile.php?id=86 .

Each and every day I remember him. Tejaswi.... Tejaswi....

Gandhiclassu... A must read.

Last month I read autobigraphy of kannada writer Kumvi's "Gandhiclassu", thought of writing about this autobiography last month itself but my laziness didnt allowed to post new blog. So now writing about this gud autobiography.
The guys who studied kannada as language in thier PUC ( plus 12) doesnt forget the chapter "Devara Hena" worte by Kumbar Veerabhadrappa ( Kumvi is his pen name) because that chapter is full of fun and illustaration of scarcity of food.Story happens a village backdrop. The story deals about an ox which is died in the house of village head and the attempts by Tonni ( a poor dalit) who attempts to get the body of dead ox to eat.
I know only kumvi's by his Devara Hena (God's corpse) and after joining BE , I became a bookworm started reading plenty of books ( almost i haev read few hundreds). One day after sternous work I felt like raeding some gud books, went to Sapna bookhouse, mysore. While hoping from shelfs to shelfs the coverpage of this book catched my eyesight. Took this book and read the epilogue written on the back side of the book by Mr. Ramachandra roa. After readinng the epilogue I thought of buying the book as it was 225 rs.
Started reading this autobiography as soon as I reached home , as most of the autobiographies this also started with the childhood days of the author. This book haunted me like a fever for few days because of its content and narration style. In this novel we will meet funny characters and also factionists of Andrapradesh.
Kuvmi gets job as kannada teacher for primary school in Andrapradesh and simply he goes Vandavagili village in Andra to get his bread and butter. His lifestory becomes colorfull (for readers) from his entry as teacher to vagili village. This village is a remote village in the border of Andra and Karnataka where basic aminities are too far. Teh home he gets for rent in this village is a palace of scorpios, Kumvi lives with them and starts mantoring the students. When he tries lure dalits students to his schools get threats from the upper castes but he doesnt gives up and educates plety of students.
The author witneeses many faction murders, meets factionists when he gets transferred to Gulyam village in Andra. Escapes from the bomb blasts which happens when he is on election duty in one of the village in Andra. On the way to Mantralayam from Bellary theer is village by name Agri, which is infamous by its brutal murderers, when I was kid the police use to escort the vehicle with loaded guns through this village. The villages in whihc the author has worked as a teacher are also comes in the same region. Atleast one person from ecah family was convicted by court. ( The people were ready to kill a person just for few hundred bucks, the continous famine, drought and need of money made them to do these).
"Kotreshi kannasu" film which got national award and "Mana mecdhida hudgi" are based on the story written by kumvi. He wirtes about the cheating of the film industry people. Kumvi writes a 600 pages novel "Shamanna" afetr getting advance mnoney from the publisher within one month. I was stunned by his confidence by which he creates Shamanna. The second half of the autobiography makesthe reader to feel that they are reading script of RGV's Rakthcharithra.
This book is a must read because it gives a some relief to the minds and soul of the people who feels that they have big problems and after reading this autobiography one will get a new perception about life and fistfull of confidence to lead the life.
Kudos to Kumvi who worte candid account of his lifestory.

Jaggesh-- An Actor

"Yescape", "kage harisu", "touching.touching...touching".
These are the words which will be known to etymologists of kannada , if they have not watched Jaggesh's kannada films. Because these are the words coined by none other than JAGGESH--The NAVARASA NAYAKA. Jaggesh's original name is Eshwar, today he is celebrating his birthday,so being an ardent fan of him i thought of writing about this versatile actor.
Eventhough his native is as he tells 'JMS' ( Jade MayaSandra) in one of the films. He was brought up by his parents in Sriramapura of Bangalore. He have numerous number of fans in karnataka. He is favourite for the producers of the films because the investment of his films are less compared to films of other heroes in kannada film industry. He is a minimum guarentee actor for a producer. Only big investment for the producers who produce Jaggesh's films is Jaggesh's payment only. No high paid heriones, musicains, and technicians required as many of his films are shooted in village backdrop.
He started his career in the early years of 1980 by doing small roles ( remember his role in Ravichadaran's box office hit 'Ranadheera') and negative roles ( In Ambarish's 'Rowdy MLA' and Ravichandran's 'Yuddha kaanda'), he came to limelght as a hero by palying protaganist role in Upendra's 'Tarle nan maga' which is famous till today as the one of the most hilarious film of kannada. Day by day his acting skills and capabilities are maturing which can be seen in his recent films like 'Yeddelu Manjunatha' and 'Lift kodla'.
He is married to Parimala whom he loved in his salad days at srirampura. His marraige dispute was the first case to appear from south  India to appear in Supreme court of India . This went to court because his wife now was underage then , there Justice. Bagawathi gave the decision in favor of Jaggesh based on the ground of humanity. They have led a wonderfull life together and has two sons.
The role model for Jaggesh is Dr.Raj and Jerry Lewis. His mannersims, body language has its root in Jerry Lewis's acting.
He is well versed in making mimicry of other personalities and famous for his pranks. His programme "Talk of the town" which is hosted for kasturi channel was a big hit, in which mimicry and palying pranks were exhibited to maximum extent.
He entered politics through congress party and lost his debut assembly election in Turuvekere Vidhanasabha constituency. Won in 2008 elections and joined BJP, now he is vice chairman of KSRTC. Whatever may be his political moves and ideologies, kannadugas love him more as an actor and jsut as an actor.
He is a disciple of Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy , now he sport a tatoo of Raghavendra swamy on his right sholuder and his mother's image as a tatoo on his left shoulder.
Happy birthday to this great actor and may god bless him with gud helath wealth and prosperity throughout his lifetime.

The guy with bat and ball had more than one life

The boy who has got bat usually didnt agree with his peers when i was bowled out. Its very commonsense that the play wont be continued if he runs away to his home with his bat. So everyone used to curse the boy who has got bat and used to let him play even when they have bowled him out. The guy who got the ball was given less priority because many of us cricket balls as thay are cheap compared to bats. This tendency of arguing with peers to bat agian was there, is there and wiil be there. Everyone likes batting more than bowling(thats team INDIA's batting lineup is very gud, contrast to bowling..LOL). The first ever playground where we played cricket was a temple courtyard in front of temple near my house. The balls were made up of plastics and rubber we used to play. I dont why but we used call rubber ball as KMS ball. Each team consisted of half of the number of people who had came to play, if anyone is extra then i was made as joker(used to get bat on both sides,no bowling was allowed). Probably this concept as its root in playing cards where we use joker , the card which can be placed with any cards. The distance between the wikcets was around 15-25 feets and that was called as short pitch cricket. Bowling was not allowed as they do in international cricket. The bowler has to stand and jsut throw the ball at the batsmen. Even though it looks simple to play this short pitch cricket , it get complicated when you just get into bat. Some many fielders will be there and some more restrictions will also be there. For eg: If the ball falls after certian marking then it was regarded as out. And even if the ball its the wall and catch by a fielder was considered as out. This cricket was going to the extreme conditions during summer and dasara holidays. In rainy season, cricket was played inside house that in hall or portico , that style of cricket was called was "pitch catch cricket", There will be around 5-7 feet distance between the bowler and batsmen, and 2-3 guys will be fielders. Wickets was not required for this pattern, the only way to get the batsmen out was by cacthing the ball which hasd pitched only once from the ground or a direct catch has to be taken. Lot of patience and tenacity is required play this pattern of cricket.
To be continued...

When we started palying CRICKET

Now its cricket fever everywhere, cricket is not jsut a game in INDIA , its a religion here. This blog is just to remember the euphoric days when i started palying cricket(though i am not a gud cricket player from my childhood :--))).
If i remember we started palying cricket when i was in first standard. In those we used prepare a ball to play cricket, that was very easy coz we used to throw lot of sheets(pages) of book irrespective of its contents. Teachers use to scold for tearing the papers from notebooks but we never stopped tearing them, especially last pages were the victims of this noble deed!! . Collect some trash papers and crush it up in hands and cover the whole mass of paper crushed with a cover you find around and then knot it with a rubber band, just as simple as that. The hard bing of a notebook is our bat for the ball we preapared. After the ball and bat is ready we used to search for brick piece or a charcoal to draw wickets on the nearby wall. Batsmen side only we had wickets and on the bowlers side we used to keep a big stone or a brick.
Cricket doesnot needs too much of money to start as any other games which were came to india from exotic places.
